With JDK 6 it's always reproducible, "jstack -F -m -l nnnnn" also hungs. 
Neither the build nor jstack can be stopped by Ctrl-C and I have to kill native2ascii

The boot JDK should also be N-1. Can you set ALT_BOOTDIR to a more 
recent 6u build and see if that helps?
