hi again,

i was wondering if anyone has some good resources for a “custom control
application” or “client app” for an audio device.

right now i don’t think it’s the best idea to bleed the coreaudio API for the
additional controls.

what i was thinking of doing is creating an application or “client" that sits
in the menu bar like the default volume control, if that’s possible.
        -is it possible?

are there any examples people could share of a manufacturer taking this
approach?

it does not seem trivial to add monitor mode functionality (or the likes) with
what coreaudio provides, but i could be wrong.
-or even adding an “upmix” selector that would allow end-users to upmix
stereo sources.

many of the controls i’m thinking about do not have any corresponding property
in the coreaudio API; i don’t think using the API in these cases is compulsory.

any recommendations for either using the existing API or, alternatively,
examples of applications providing added functionality, would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Gagan
