Latest flashrom has better error messages, but the problem you're hitting
(transaction error) is ICH specific and not easy to address. The good news
is that I may have figured out a trick (changing opcode type from write-
with-address to write-without-address) to solve this.

flashrom from svn and fun
flashrom -V
