It's a ThinkPad X220 (notebook version, not tablet version). Let's provide that the clip fits the chip, the wires fit the clip and I have PSUs to power everything.
How long may the wires be?

Depends on your ThinkPad model, usually yes if the clip fits the chip,
the wires fit the clip and aren't too long, and you have PSUs to power
everything.
