What is the schedule for the next releases of coreutils package?
There s no planned release schedule. As is common in the free-software world, it will be released "when it's ready". Looking at past released: $ grep stable NEWS * Noteworthy changes in release 8.31 (2019-03-10) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.30 (2018-07-01) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.29 (2017-12-27) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.28 (2017-09-01) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.27 (2017-03-08) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.26 (2016-11-30) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.25 (2016-01-20) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.24 (2015-07-03) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.23 (2014-07-18) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.22 (2013-12-13) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.21 (2013-02-14) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.20 (2012-10-23) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.19 (2012-08-20) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.18 (2012-08-12) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.17 (2012-05-10) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.16 (2012-03-26) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.15 (2012-01-06) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.14 (2011-10-12) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.13 (2011-09-08) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.12 (2011-04-26) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.11 (2011-04-13) [stable] * Noteworthy changes in release 8.10 (2011-02-04) [stable] ... It is reasonable to assume there will be at least one new release every year, and sometimes more if there are critical bugfixes or major changes.
I am Alexander Shopov - currently updating the Bulgarian translation of coreutils.
Thank you for contributing, much appreciated.
I managed to submit my latest version via the Translation Project but I am far from finished and I am currently working on getting to 100%. How much time do I have until next release and the one after that?
The most recent version (8.31) was released just 3 days ago, so there are certainly several more months before the next one (barring any critical bugs). When a new release is materializing, we send an announcement email to several mailing lists to notify everyone: coreutils@gnu.org platform-test...@gnu.org coordina...@translationprojects.org e.g.: https://lists.gnu.org/r/coreutils/2019-03/msg00005.html If you subscribe to any of these lists, you will know in advance when a new release is coming. Hope this helps, - assaf
