The KvR Award honours outstanding researchers who have advanced the theoretical foundations of Information Retrieval — those whose work has shaped new models, paradigms, or metrics that deepen our understanding of IR. The award was first presented at ECIR 2024 to Prof. Maarten de Rijke (University of Amsterdam). The second KvR Award will be awarded at ECIR 2026 in Delft!
