Hi, Title: Programmer Analyst – Senior (COGNOS DEVELOPER) Location: Cincinnati Ohio Duration: 6-12 months Hourly Rate: $45-$50/hr The Programmer Analyst Senior will be responsible for the Analysis, Design & Development, Testing, and implementation of various Business Intelligence Reporting initiatives. Although the primary role of this position is to develop/deliver reporting, this individual will also perform BSA activities. This individual must have the proven ability to architect, manage, administer, develop and support reporting using the complete Cognos 8.4 toolset (Framework Manager, Transformer, Report Studio, Analysis Studio, and Metrics Manager). This individual should additionally be able to understand and work with relational databases. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Must be proficient using the Cognos 8.4 suite of products including Framework Manager, Transformer, Report Studio, Analysis Studio, and Metrics Manager. • Serve as a subject matter expert on in-house business intelligence initiatives and reporting tool solutions • Collaborate with business users, programmers, and other technical support personnel in conceptualizing and developing new software programs, modifications, and applications. • Provide production support for the reporting and analytic environment including; trouble-shooting of reports, new user setup, data inquiries, and ad-hoc requests • Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures. • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments. • Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation. • Must have the ability to develop strong relationships with our business partners. • Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas. • Generate statistics and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process. • Develop and maintain system manuals and guidelines. • Train end users to operate new or modified programs. • Schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades. • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior team members. Specific Experience: The minimum core competencies required for this position are: • Senior Level COGNOS Developer (Must have 5+ years experience) • Must have at least 5+ years of Cognos development experience including proven experience with Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Framework, and Transformer • Experience with Cognos 8.4 • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cognos and be able to translate user requirements into complex Framework Manager Models, reports, and dashboards. • SSIS hands-on experience • Experience in Data Stage integration tool (Desired) • Strong SQL skills • COGNOS Version upgrade experience (Desired) • Knowledge of data and data manipulation techniques • Knowledge of relational databases within a Data Warehouse environment. Experience working in a data warehouse environment is a plus. • Solid Interpersonal Skills • Must have strong problem solving, verbal and written communication, and analytical skills. • Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal skills. EDUCATION/EXPEREINCE: College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering, and/or five years equivalent work experience.
