HOT JOB!!* Role: Agile Coach Location: Ft Worth TX Client: BNSF Railways Duration: 12+ Months Interview: Phone & In Person *Description* This position is responsible for implementing, facilitating, and enabling Agile processes (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) at the Portfolio, Program, and feature teams for the TSS 2.0 Program. The Agile Coach should be a servant-leader who educates and coaches teams on Agile practices to continually improve team performance. We are seeking to instill “Philosophy Followers” rather than “Process Followers”, but we are seeking an Agile Coach who can easily translate philosophy into actions. The Agile Coach should be an exuberant evangelist who can re-energize people to the benefits of Agile by providing them tangible mentoring on how to execute in an Agile culture. *Essential Functions* • Ensure Scrum processes, rules and ceremonies are properly applied by leading, facilitating, and supporting the following: o Daily stand-up meetings o Sprint Planning o Sprint Retrospectives o Sprint Demos o Scrum of Scrum meetings o Release Planning Events (as needed) • Coach the team to: o Understand and embrace Agile principles and culture o Become a self-governing high-performance team o Collaborate and effectively manage work o Manage intrapersonal conflicts. Escalates to PMO and TS Leadership where necessary, but only after internal team processes have failed to resolve the issue o Refine the team’s work capacity o Provide transparency to the work and progress o Team user story refinement o Adhere to Definition of Ready / Definition of Done • Coach the Product Owner in: o Maintaining and prioritizing the Product Backlog with a strong focus on Minimal Viable Product and incremental value o Writing and breaking down User Stories o Protecting the team from uncontrolled injection of work • Work with the RTE to help facilitate: o Planning Events o Scrum of Scrums (as needed) o Project governance o System Demos o Stakeholder management and organizational change management • Work with TS Leadership to instill an Agile culture • Collaborate with the PMO and TS Leadership and escalate as needed • Support Scrum Masters in removing impediments to the team’s progress • Make work visible (Kanban/Scrum boards, Agile tools, metrics, etc.) • Collaborate with the PMO to develop and maintain team metrics *Qualifications* *• Education / Experience:* o Working knowledge of at least one Agile ALM tool o Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university. o 10 + years of experience leading Information Technology projects. o 5 + years leading large scale transformation programs, involving business process and change, organization change, and multiple large-scale technology components. o 2+ years delivering large scale IT solutions leveraging Agile or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) o One or more Agile certifications: o SAFe Agilist (SA) o CSM (Certified Agile Coach) o SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) o PSM (Professional Agile Coach) o PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) • * Preferred Education, Experience and Skills* o Master’s Degree from an accredited college/university (MBA, Information Systems or Computer Science) o Transportation industry experience *• Required Skills:* o Strong professional experience and a proven understanding with iterative development, incremental software delivery, and the “why” behind it o Expertise in guiding team and enterprise level transitions to Kanban, Scrum, XP and Continuous Delivery principles and practices o Demonstrated knowledge with the principles behind emergent requirements o Excellent understanding of agile metrics (e.g. how to build a burn-down, track velocity/cycle time, backlog tracking, and task definition) o Ability to handle several simultaneous tasks, demonstrate a sense of urgency and ownership to drive issues to completion o Demonstrated experience and knowledge with a solid understanding of project management fundamentals (time/scope/cost) o Expertise in making continuous improvement changes, especially as it relates to software development o Exceptional facilitation skills; must be able to lead and demonstrate value add principles with transparency (e.g. desire to bring disclosure and grow trust) o Proven ability to lead teams to self-organize and work independently with limited supervision. o Experience using agile life cycle management tools o Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship-building skills conducive to collaboration at all levels o Experience in business and solution development, project/program management, and project delivery o Ability to interact effectively with various levels within the organization o Proven experience in change management. o Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills • Bonus (Does not require technical proficiency to implement, but understanding with how this fits into Agile) o Knowledge of Trunk Based Development, Feature Toggles, API Versioning, Compile Toggles o Knowledge of Functional Test Automation, Test Driven Development, and Behavior Driven Development o Knowledge of at least one programming language o Knowledge of Micro services, Domain Driven Design, and Bounded Context Knowledge of Cloud Native Design *Personality Traits* o Excellent technical acumen and ability to learn new software and business concepts quickly (client has an existing process overlaid on SAFe.
