Special Skillset 
This will support the reporting and analytics discovery effort related to 
enterprise project portfolio reporting. The ideal candidate will have the 
following skill sets:

*                     Demonstrate in-depth expertise in data profiling, such as 
producing valuable data assets from diverse data sets through hands-on work, 
organizing and leveraging data models for enterprise-scale application

*                     Able to build client rapport and understand business 
processes and challenges quickly

*                     Ideally, have a good level of understanding of project 
and portfolio reporting

 

Essential Functions
Data Profiling – Technical: Ability to access existing data sources, Amtrak or 
external, cloud or on-premise, for a variety of formats. Highly skilled in SQL 
queries. Ability to take extracts and assess data types, coverage, and volume; 
run basic checks and execute test plans on data quality. Demonstrate a thorough 
understanding of data generated by a particular system.

*                     Data profiling - Business: Ability to thoroughly 
understand what data means – what is being measured, how is this data being 
generated; what are the implications for how multiple data sources and data 
models can be combined, analyzed and interpreted; why the data is needed; how 
can the data be used to support business process or transactions.

*                     Dashboard development & Product Management: Ability to 
understand the process, listen to the needs, develop an MVP as fast as 
possible, and relentlessly iterate based on client feedback.

*                     Ability to reverse engineer an existing dashboard by 
connecting dashboard views back to the dataset. Understand how data and 
analytics will be consumed by end-users.

*                     Strong relationship building skills

*                     Excellent documentation skills and good attention to 
details

 

Minimum Qualifications
BA or BS degree in a relevant field

*                     7-10 years of experience as a Data Architect, Technical 
Data Analyst.

*                     Must be an expert user in SQL, Excel, and comfortable 
working with large data sets.

*                     Highly skilled in data profiling and with in-depth 
experience with the enterprise data warehouse (EDW), Tableau, Business Objects

*                     In-depth experience with Microsoft Office 365, 
SharePoint, and Power BI as an administrator or a superuser, in particular, 
related to data collection and workflow automation

*                     Experience with business analysis, business process 
mapping, project management, and financial reporting preferred

*                     Excellent technical writing skills. Experience with 
Standard Operating Procedure or knowledge base documentation development.

*                     Must have excellent independent research skills and 
ability to draw actionable insights from raw data

*                     Experience with Macro strongly preferred

*                     Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, MS 
Project

*                     Basic understanding of Project Management Body of 
Knowledge (PMBOK), including project scope, schedule, and budget management

*                     CAMP or PMP certification a plus
