William Roulston in his excellent book on Donagheady parish did not notice that the Kincaids were long residents of Donagheady parish. The Kincaids were in Donagheady Parish and Taughboyne Parish, County Donegal since the 1620s. I am convinced the earliest Kincaids were brothers Andrew and John Kincaid, sons of James Kincaid of that Ilk and Christian Leslie, daughter of George Leslie, 4th Earl of Rothes. They came to Tyrone because they got in trouble with their sister-in-law, Margaret Hamilton, widow of Sir James Kincaid of that Ilk. Their Leslie cousin's daughter was apparently married to Sir George Hamilton of Greenlaw while another cousin's son was one time Bishop of Raphoe. John Leslie of Killyclooney was certainly another close relative.
