Jim, I did not know of the existence of these records before your email
came. From them I have discovered quite a lot of records for my wife's
RUTHERFORDs in Co Leitrim and I have taken a slightly different approach to
that mentioned in the guide.

I started by looking at the land index records for Leitrim such as "Land
index: Galway, Leitrim, Longford 1708-1810" going through page by page the
Leitrim section and noting all the transactions involving a RUTHERFORD and
so far I have found references to about 40 deeds from about 1750 through to
the early 1900's. As well as references to the land some, particularly the
earlier ones, include some details of relationships and marriages which are
not obtainable from other Irish records.

I will admit it's a lot of hard work viewing the films but it is worth it as
they provide information on possible family members who are not recorded
elsewhere.

Thanks for providing this information.

Peter Harris

Use the Registry of Deeds, Dublin

Established in 1708 the Registry of Deeds is a huge archive of Irish
property history, holding 17,000 bound volumes of property documents and
five million memorial records of property transactions.

This guide will help you navigate the FamilySearch.org films of ALL these
records.
