I guess that crosses the line somewhat in my opinion for usabilty. JSon is great because there are libraries to support it in pretty much every coding environment. I can't say the same about Erlang :-), superior though it may be. Of course you could always wrap it in an API, sort of like what Google does for AppEngine in Google Query Language (GQL).
