Couch users, This is just a warning that the latest updates to svn trunk (r690668) are backwards-incompatible with prior versions of CouchDB. If you have data that you don't want to lose, please follow the suggestions on http://wiki.apache.org/couchdb/BreakingChanges to dump you database from the old version, before upgrading and reloading into the new version.
An alternative process would be to launch a the new-version of CouchDB from the source directory (see http://wiki.apache.org/couchdb/Contributing for information on running from source). You should ensure that this version is not using the same data directory as your existing install. Then you should be able to replicate existing databases to the new version. When your replication is done, you should shutdown both instances, move your original data directory aside, and `make install` the new version. Then you move the newly created data directory into place where the old one was, and boot CouchDB normally. You should see your existing databases are available. To be on the safe side, please make a backup of your data directory before beginning this process. Chris -- Chris Anderson http://jchris.mfdz.com
