Kind of amazes me that some people think that all these "advancements" on
the coupe are so great yet no other company seems to have figured it out.
I
think you have it all wrong. I suspect the reason the coupe didn't have
flaps was just because they weren't used as much then. Also they wanted
the
prop blast over the ailerons due to their letting this one thing rule over
their design. Just how great is it to not be able to spin the Ercoupe
anyway?  If you stall your plane at 500 feet while turning, does it really
matter if it spins, or goes into a steep spiral, or just mushes at a
fantastic rate?  It could have actually been better if they'd just
forgotten
all that no-spin and given it enough elevator to do the job.  Glen Ward
