When you install rivits, you use the next size up, about .004 larger than
the 
rivit size.  Driving the rivit expands it to fit the hole.  When you
remove 
it, use the same size as the rivit (e.g. 1/8").  Drill down into the shank

and then use a punch the same size (or the wrong end of a drill bit) to
pop 
the rivit head off.  This way there's no risk of enlarging the hole, which

will make the replacement rivit fail.
