Hello, Jan --

I have a MicroAir 760 installed in my Buccaneer II amphibious kitplane.
The Buc is powered by a noisy, high-revving Rotax 582 2-stroke engine,
but the little MicroAir has plenty of audio gain into the headset to cut
through the noise. (As well, the radio has an internal noise-cancelling
circuit which helps cut down on the ambient noise.) Operation of the
radio is simple and straightforward, and performance is excellent.

Although the MicroAir's carrier power is only 4 watts (the specs say
that peak effective power is 12 watts), I have had no complaints from
controllers or other aircraft about the quality of my transmissions.
The 2-place intercom feature is nice, and can be wired through a panel
switch if you wish to turn the intercom on or off during flight. The
only complaint I have is about the installation manual, which is a bit
unclear and lacks sufficient detail on some points. Otherwise, so
pleased am I with the MicroAir that I plan to buy one for my 'Coupe --
as soon as I replenish the penny jar.

Incidentally, MicroAir makes a transponder that is roughly the same size
as their VHF radio, but I haven't seen that box marketed in the US
(possibly because FCC/FAA approval is pending?).
