Hi Greg,
It sounds like you have a flanged crankshaft.  Mine is tapered and the
prop 
flange is actually a hub attached to the crank with a large internal nut.
An 
easier way to tell is if there is nothing sticking out through the center
of 
the prop hub you have a flanged shaft.  The tapered shaft/hub assembly 
protrudes through the center of the prop four or five inches.
