I've flown my coupe with no fairings at all and didn't
notice any difference whatsoever. But the flat front on the leg is from
two to three inches wide and makes for poor streamlining. I simply got
some stiff cardboard for a pattern and creased it down the middle to
make the leading edge. Then I found the oridginal four mount holes and
put in the bolts. Next I trimmed it to look right. The material I used
is .020" aluminum I got as scrap at a local sheet metal shop for $2.00.I
then polished it and presto, gear suitable for any military
plane.
