Wayne, I am sorry about your friend. Your message was well stated and well taken. A man, a doctor and pilot, who has a plane at our airport, recently killed himself in his hanger. I didn't know him and I don't know the whole story, but it certainly is a sad event. I knew his son a little as he was in my ground school class. Every day is precious and it is too bad that most of us have to be confronted with a tragedy to be reminded of that. It is the most astonishingly beautiful day today here at Murray Field in Eureka. It does't get much better and we have such a beautiful area in which to fly. I don't understand why everybody who has a plane at our airport isn't flying today. If I had any dough at all right now, I'd for sure be having a lesson. And I may just have to go beg a ride from someome as the urge to fly is so overpowering today. The odd thing is that hardly anyone is flying today. It's Sunday, wind is 5 kts or less after what seems like weeks of off and on 25-40kt gusts, etc. Visibility is fantastic, the birds are singing, the rhododendrons and flowering trees are blooming. What a fabulous spring day! Folks need to get out there and fly and enjoy life. Well this is neat. The son of the guy who killed himself just this minute took off in his Dad's cub. I'm glad the kid didn't give up flying when his Dad checked out. I know the Dad wouldn't have wanted that. Have a good day, folks.
