I use Aeroglaze; through Sporty's it's about $24/gallon.  You don't need
to
wash the plane first, you apply this stuff & buff it off.  Takes off
grease
and fuel stains and leaves a good, long-lasting finish.  I never wash my
plane with water.  I do touch-ups with a degreaser and Lemon Pledge.
