Sometimes you really have to wonder. AIG was dragging their feet
issuing a binder for N99387, and I wanted to fly, so I gave Avemco
a shot.

They replied they'd be happy to insure both planes for just over twice
what I pay for N2906H. A generous 5% discount for having two planes.
That got me down to 'only' $1800.00 for the two planes. Ouch! That's
with EAA discount, no incidents/accidents, and quite a bit of time
in type.

Talked to a supervisor. 'No,' he says, 'that quote is correct.' But they
could bind right away with a credit card. No wonder. At those rates
they better be hungry!

AIG came back with an offer to insure both planes for $207 more than
I pay for one, which is already way less than Avemco would charge
for one. For more coverage. 'You can't fly both at once' they laughed.
Well, I can, because my policy allows me to toss the keys to any
PP-ASEL I trust.

After hearing other stories, I suspect that Avemco is just screwed up,
and actually has a better rate, but aren't able to get it up on the
computer.
But what the heck, when told Avemco could bind immediately, AIG came
right through.

Best of both worlds.
