Yes, a standard O ring goes there...and use red hydraulic fluid....to
fill.
If the cyl walls are worn badly, you can drill and tap a small hole in the

bottom of the piston, and install a Brake cup to form a seal. This was the

proceedure before s/n 813....and use brake fluid instead of hyd fluid.

Proper filling is to have the square stop removed, and fill the assembled
expanded strut to the level of the oil hole. ( removing the stop allows
the
piston to come up past the oil hole.) Be careful when assy, and be sure
the
inside wall surfaces are clean and there is no sharp lip at the oil hole,
as
it will cut the O ring on assy.

If you have the double nose fork, then you probably will need 7/16"
spacers
placed above the doughnuts, so the tail height will be up to specs ~ 75
inches. This assures the Coupe is back in specification at rest., and that

lift is dumped on landing - when the nose gear compresses; preventing
balooning. A low tail coupe is very squirly in a X wind.... This fix
really
is an important, easy fix to make the coupe perform on landing as Fred
Weick
intended.
