The outlet is over the passengers feet. The inlet has a butterfly valve, controlled by a push pull on the panel, to open and close and also a "kick" plate on the firewall to close again. (I assume the kick plate is a safety feature to close in case of engine fire). The floor boards get hot - this helps. May also cool radios a little. If you want just a little cool, without opening the windows, it's nice. Like anything else on the nose bowl, you will pay a little for it with lost performance - but so small you may never know. It does hamper performance like opening the windows - so you can get some cooling on take off (when the windows are surpose to be closed). I like it on mine.
