I'll have to chime in here, even though I'm not into rebuilding
or refurbishing airplanes. I put together an off-the-grid home in
"the back country" -- placing and cabling the batteries, attaching
to inverters, installing and wiring all of the solar panels,
assisting the electrician to attach and complete the
wiring to solar panels, well pump, and house. None of these
were "high on the happiness list" for me ....... but when I've
encountered "overcurrent" or "stacking" errors or fluctuating
current surges (not supposed to be possible when attached to
a charged battery system and inverters -- an interesting situation,
when finally figured out), I've been the one to solve each of these
problems, since I "did" the installation. So, a working knowledge
is a real plus, even for the airplane you fly! More power to the
people who want to turn the guts inside out. 94783 is just such
a beauty, restored by John-Olav Johnsen of Albuquerque, best
Ercoupe and Best of Show at EOC in 1997. I lucked into this
sweetheart, and you can bet she "won't change hands" for another
50 years. So .... sometimes rebuilding your own is going to be
the only way to get hold of the plane you want (most people aren't
going to be as lucky as me!) (Of the 4 planes I've bought in the
past 23 years, all have been Coupes)
Godspeed and great flying,
