Hi Ron,
Sorry but I don't know where either of these are available. I've seen
and ridden several of both of these. If I remember correctly the James had
a Villers engine in it. As for the Little Harley, you must be looking for
a 175 Hummer as the earlier ones were 125cc and had three rubber bands in
the top of the forks for surpressing the bumps in the road (or dirt
trails). I remember that if you ever got the front wheel in the air the
wheel dropped down from gravity and the rubber bands fell off,. then you
had to stop and lift up on the front end to get the rubber bands back
where they belonged. The '49 was like that but I don't remember if they
changed it for 1950 or 51. I always liked the BSA Bantam D-1C and the Czek
better as they were both faster than the Harley.
Sorry I can't help you, but keep looking there are a few out there in
barns etc. The James may be harder to locate since they were imported from
England as opposed to being made here in the states.
Go to every swap meet you hear about and don't get in a hurry and you
may be able to find one or both of them.

Happy Hunting........

Hi Dick,
Do you still ride motorcycles? What do (did) you ride? I grew up in
my dad's Indian Motorcycle Shop, then he took on 11 English brands, then
several Italian brands.
I've ridden about every brand you can name and I have several cycles
now but my main one is a '73 Moto-Guzzi. I've put over 500k on five
different cycles, one of which is the one I have now with about 545k on
it. I don't ride as much as I used to before I retired as I'm involved in
to many different things now and my time is spread so thin that I just
don't have time to ride as much as I'd like to.
Motorcycles and Airplanes have always been my two main loves. (I
neither date nor marry anyone who doesn't like at least one if not both of
these great hobbies.)

On my first date with my wife, I picked her up on a motorcycle and took
her to the airport for an airplane ride. That afternoon we went and saw
the Beach Boys in concert. That was 15 years and 6 airplanes ago.Dick

I know 3 women who were pressured into selling their planes after
marriage. Now they are very sad when they tell me about it and the fun they
USED to have.Women are the definite minority as pilots, less than 5% of
the pilot population, but there are also men that think we are nuts too,
because we want to fly. It made me sure that I only dated pilots, I did
not want to risk a conflict of something so important to me. I learned
from others experiences. :-) Birds of a feather should flock
together.Smiles.....Mary

Mary,I don't blame you for not appreciating being bashed as the member of
any group. But... you made our point for us. I have never heard of a man
who has told a woman she couldn't fly or own a plane. Unfortunately, the
converse is all too common a story.Dick in NM.

My, my, this is really turning into a woman bashing thread! Did you
ever think that a WOMAN may feel the same way you guys do? If ANY man told
me I couldn't fly, or own my plane.....well, that would be a little too
much controlling for me and it would be so long Charlie. That's why I
married a pilot that has 5 planes. LOL!
