advice in this forum.]----

A little tip if you do call a broker... don't give your N-number
(consider buying your "buddy's" plane and give them his/her number).

There's major collusion in this industry. If you do give your number

to one agent and they call and find you've shopped with another they
basically will refuse to give you a quote. There's got to be
     something illegal about this.

The other thing they like to do to get you to pay more is find out if

your insurance has ever lapsed. I had my plane in the shop for a
while and let my insurance lapse for like two months and when I went
to get another quote it jumped up 50%!!! He said it was because I
had
     let my insurance lapse.

You should also really question whether you need hull insurance on a
$17K Coupe. Figuring the high premiums and a $1K deductible it
doesn't take long to cover the costs of almost all accidents (if the
accident is bad enough where you die then there's other things to
worry about, like where you spend eternity, than paying for the Coupe

     :)

The other thing to consider is that if you have an accident and if
there isn't major injury or death involved then *most likely* (actual

results may vary!) the FAA isn't going to nitpick your plane to
death.
They will come out and try to find out what went wrong and why the
accident happened and then will leave. They are too busy to bother
seeing if your C-85 has the proper cooling baffles or if your lights
have STCed bulbs or if you legally routed your crank vent to keep oil

     off the belly, etc etc.

Now the insurance company on the other hand *won't* ignore any of
these items. If you total your plane it's worth their time to send
out an agent hired to find every little thing possibly wrong with
your
plane or its paperwork. And as we all know it's tough to account for

every tiny thing ever done to a 50+ year old plane maintained by
     numerous owners.

Just some things to consider :)

     Keep em flying!

<<I would like to suggest If you could, it would benefit all coupers
     if you
could set up an insurance section where the names and numbers of all
     these
companies that insure coupes could be listed.
