The airlines were responsible for security and they did it by hireing the lowest bidder and taking no action with regard to flight deck access. Isreal has know how to do it for years but no one wanted to spend the money or make them. All this war talk disturbs me. Sounds like a bunch of bullys in a bar. You would think from the statements by our top rulers that the actions of the US government abroad were above reproach. Never mind that for years the US has aided vicious and oppressive rulers in the middle east and other areas, like the Shah of Iran who maintained control by killing off any who resisted him, just like his successor. Never mind we still support a kingdom instead of democracy in Saudi Arabia. We are the good guys. I just wish that when we go over there to kill some more people our collective conscience was clearer. As far as GA aircraft being grounded, I fail to see why GA VFR is being singled out as the only means of spreading toxin's etc. Trucks aren't grounded. I'd gladly file a VFR flight plan and get a xpdr code prior to flying. It's just too inconvenient for the feds. I also wish to note that no one has bothered to explain why GA is grounded. They can't possibly believe they would be giving ideas to a potential terrorist. The terrorists have demonstrated that they can think up better scenarios than can those protecting us. I just hate government acting like they know more than we do. We know now they don't.
