Ok - here is the deal as I read the NOTAMs. A 25,000 hour ATP cannot
move his VFR Ercoupe from an airport under enhanced Bravo airspace
because he is a threat to national security. A 300 hour, 20 year old
CFI cannot move the ATP's Coupe from under enhanced Bravo for him
because he is also a threat. But the ATP can get in his Coupe WITH the
CFI for a training flight and move the Coupe out from the enhanced Bravo
on a training flight. Makes lots of sense. You feel safer already,
right? Hell, a CFI can get in an airplane with anyone off the street
and fly as long as it is a training flight.
BTW this is the solution for you folks under the enhanced Bravo
airspace. Go get a CFI certificate (which is not really all that hard -
mostly consists of proving you can fly from the right seat and making
sure you really memorized the FARs). With a CFI certificate you can go
flying VFR in enhanced B anytime you want as long as you bring someone
along and "train" them. ("OK I am taking off now." "Now I am tuning
the radios.")
Actually, I am not really complaining. My Ercoupe is 2.5 miles outside
of the Boston enhanced Bravo (which allows NO VFR flight) so I got to
fly this weekend. I am a happy camper. I just feel sorry for the folks
with airplanes at OWD, BED and BVY.
