Hi folks,

Jim and I like to play tourist in our own back yard as there is plenty to
see in our area. When we're not able to fly we drive.

We did the Avenue of the Giants scenic alternative last Saturday and
eventually ended up at the Garberville Airport (very rural). Funny how we
always end up at airports, even when we're in the car.

While we were there, not one but 2 Lancairs landed, about 20 minutes
apart. How in the world can there be not one, but 2 Lancairs in
GARBERVILLE? (Local humor) Anyway, I had the notion that maybe they were
coming back from the EAA once a month pancake breakfast in Truckee (near
Tahoe). The EAA in Truckee has a fabulous big building and apparently it
is yet another very active group. I just had to ask the second Lancair
pilot if that is where he had been. He said no, he had been to
Marysville. And he metioned he was surprised at how many coupes he saw
there. He said he didn't think there were that many in CA. I told him
that he was seeing only a fraction of what was in CA, and that there were
lots more in OR and all over.

We had a nice talk. I did get offerred a ride in his Cub, his other
plane. I'll have to get back down his way and take advantage of his
offer. He didn't however, offer me a ride in his Lancair. :-) That's
OK, I think I understand.

Spook
