Seriously, I still believe that the response to the new AD should be "yes that is a good idea" because it is, rather than attempting to start a letter writing campaign to try and keep it from happening! I am convinced they ought to make people remove their wings once, inspect inside, ultrasonically check the steel fittings, etc. This is not too much to ask after 55 years! That might make me think Ercoupes are safe! People can go on about how safe they think theirs are and maybe today they still are, but there is no telling unless you have drilled out all those rivets and checked in between. Give it a few more years and somebody will lose a wing due to those fittings riveted up to the aluminum spar. Then we will all be in deep stuff! Heck, it appears somebody already has though they were in terrible winds. Remember some people were against the swiss cheese AD, which actually assured the continued airworthiness and value of the Ercoupes. As for coupe prices - Check out the crazy Cub prices in TAP!
