----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----

Bob,

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but the SULFNBK.EXE message is, in
fact, a hoax. While the
file does exist, it is not a virus. It is a Microsoft utility that is used
to restore long file names.
McAfee has an alert about it. You can read it here:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/virusSummary.asp?virus_k=99084
Windows Security Administrator also has mention of it:
http://www.secadministrator.com/Panda/Index.cfm?FuseAction=Virus&virusID=1
098
It says that deleting this file could actually do harm to your system.

Please people, for your own protection, check these things out before you
do anything. It's very easy to
do by going to places like McAfee (
http://www.mcafeeb2b.com/naicommon/avert/avert-homepage.asp )
or Windows Security Administrator ( http://www.secadministrator.com/ ) or
Symantec ( http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ ).

Attention coupers-----

This is real, please read it immediately! The lady who sent this to
me is a close friend and she was right....I found it on my hard drive.
I followered her directions in the attached letter and deleted it then
went to my trash and deleted it again.
I had to do this before I dared send this warning out. This one is
is not a hoax!!! If you find it on your hard drive you might mention it
on the net so others who might not believe it will see your post and
then take it serious.

Bob, Please read the following letter that my friend sent me.
Unfortunately she sent me mail before and there was a virus attached.
DAMN. I found it in my file area. Thankfully, I've sent only a few mails
out to people of which you were one---UGGH. I was quickly able to get it
off my system. Let me know right away OK? Julie

I'M VERY SORRY---(it originally came to her via a teacher from the school
district, but I'd still like to kill her!)

THIS IS URGENT

I have received an e- mail today form someone saying that she had been
send a virus and it showed up on her computer. The virus has been sent to
everyone that she emailed in the past month.
I found that I DID, IN FACT, HAVE THE VIRUS.

to delete the virus is very simple.

The virus is programmed to activate after being on your Hard Drive for a
while. Because of the delay in activation, it may not get picked up by
Anti - virus programs. (McAfee, Norton, Trend Micro, etc) There's no way
of knowing how long this virus has been on the system. It is possible that
it has been active several months. When it does become active, IT WILL
DESTROY ALL FILES AND FOLDERS ON YOUR HARD DRIVE

spreads when you send out emails and places itself into
C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND. IN order to find this virus, follow these
instructions.

Click on "start"

choose "search" or "find
"
choose "for folders or files"

name of file to search for "SULFNBK.EXE

set to look in: Local Hard Drive

select "find"or "search Now"

If you find this file DO NOT OPEN IT!!!!!!!

select it by right clicking it with your mouse and DELETE it. Go to your
recycle bin and permanently dlete it from there. The good news is that YOU
HAVE ELEMINATED THE VIRUS ON YOUR COMPUTER. the bad new is that you have
transmitted this virus to anyone you may have emailed in the last month or
more. Thus the reason for this message. I am truly sorry. Please contact
everyone in your address book and pass this message along.
