Rob, I sincerely don't mean this to be nasty, but I think you'd
better achieve your goals if you didn't make sweeping disdainful
assumptions
that appear insulting.

Frankly, the way you have chosen to go about this makes you come off as a
bit of a prick.

Notice that I am very careful not to say that I think you're a prick - I
don't even
know you, and you may be a really fine person, but that's how you come
off.

You're confusing people's reactions to the poor way you're going about
this with stubbornness or foolishness. There are some here who have
forgotten more about
aircraft maintenance than you will ever know. Experience has taught us
that
expertise, diligence and common sense contribute more to aircraft safety
than beauracracy
and sometimes poorly conceived ADs.

Remember, this is the FAA we're dealing with, not NASA or the JPL.

Did it ever occur to you that each aircraft is an individual case, and
will
not exhibit exactly the same issues you had with yours? It appears that
you
are bitter and remorseful because you happen to buy an aircraft with
corrosion problems. I don't claim to be an expert, but I am pretty certain
that you are not either, and I would almost bet this was your first
aircraft
purchase.

Try to get over your disappointment, and move on. Don't try to blame
others
for your choice. I once found main spar corrosion on a Luscombe I bought.
I
didn't lash out at my friends who told me what a great plane the Luscombe
is. I fixed the wings and put 700 hours on it, before I sold it for more
than I paid. It IS a great airplane, as if the Ercoupe.

All you have given us so far in some anecdote about one aircraft you owned
that had some corrosion. I would be more sympathetic if you had ANY real
statistics, facts, or other hard data to offer.

Believe me, the Ercoupe owners of the world have not bought off the NTSB.

Peace

Artie
