Thanks for all the replies on the speeds.

Since I bought the coupe here in the FOR SALE section, I haven't seen it
or really know how she flies. I bought it for my wife for her Christmas
present. (She was taking my coupe way tooooo often:)

It's on the way here from the Sacremento area to SouthWest Michigan.

Jan Zanutto did the pre-buy on the coupe and indicates that the engine
is running strong. His friend Carl was originally going to ferry it
back, but got weathered out. Jan just indicated that Carl seemed to be
getting normal speeds and normal RPM's.

Richard Todd hooked me up with the current pilot, Garrett. Richard owns
a coupe 415-D and this pilot flys it around a lot in Big Bear, So
California, so he knows the high altitudes and correcting for the True
vs.Indicated airspeeds. I keep missing connections with my pilot, so
he goes thru Richard a lot. He says that the GPS is showing about 80
knots (92mph) for Groundspeed also. I'll know more tonight when he
checks in.

Richard did say that the engine sounded really good and seems to run
strong. There was some concern about it getting off the ground from Big
Bear (elev 6500 I think, maybe higher) and took longer rollout than
Richard's coupe which is supposed to be identical. 85 hp 7148 pitch
prop. Fortunately my pilot, Garrett, indicates that the engine is
running fine.

With the lower RPM, there is some speculation that the prop may have
been overpitched in the cruise setting - yet not getting the speed up.
Especially since it didn't jump off the runway. On the other hand, he
got up to 11,500 MSL with no problem. I'll have it checked out
thoroughly when it gets here.

There have been strong winds along the route - at least as I check it
from work. Today, he should get a strong tailwind.

For anyone who is interested, the route so far has been:

Leg 1: Davis, CA to Fresno to Big Bear, CA

* One day at Big Bear for a professional polish by Richard Todd at the
WingWaxers headquarters. Richard even sent photos of the work in
progress. Thanks

Day 2 (Thursday 12-20)

Leg 2: Big Bear, CA to Sedona, AZ
Leg 3: Sedona, AZ to Edgewood, NM

Day Three (Friday 12-21)

Leg 4: Edgewood, NM to Clayton, OK
Leg 5: Clayton, OK to Springfield, MO

Havent heard the latest - but the plan is to make it somewhere by St.
Louis tonight.

Weather has been good for him, but there is a strong storm system moving
in behind, so I hope he's here by tomorrow noon.

As a plus, he indicates that the fuel burn is phenomenal - leaned out
for altitude and getting about 4.5 gph and at one point 4.3 gph.

That's why I love the coupes. Fun flying at a fraction of the cost!
