You say SN 170? Big trouble! I'm trying to remember the change over.
Somewhere around SN 813 or something. That's when they changed and put
the strut
behind the spar, instead of in front of it. Up to that point, the wing
tanks had a
recessed area on the rear outboard of the tank, to make room for the
strut. I
tried and tried to find a right hand tank for my SN 718, and no luck. I
followed
every lead the Coupers could give me. The only slight possibility you
might have is
that Lee at Skyport said he thought he had a couple of old ones out in the
junk
pile, and if he could ever find the time, he'd check it out. I couldn't
get him to
find the time. Perhaps you are more persuasive than I was. Other than
that, every
lead fizzled out. Are the old tanks gone, or just in bad shape? I
suspect you're
