My experience is somewhat similar. My carb leaks, but only when installed
in
the plane. Three good mechanics each tried to stop the leak and found
that
the carb doesn't leak on the bench but always leaks when installed in the
plane. A drop per second seems a bit high but my recommendation is to
live
with it or expect to spend a lot of money trying to fix it.

The problem with leaving it alone is that you cannot know what the float
level is set at. I developed a method of testing the level with the
engine
running. Replace the drain plug with a hose nipple and attach a 10'
length
of clear hose to it. Route the hose up along the side of the float and
then
out along the wing. The level in the hose will be the same as the level
inside the float bowl and with the end outside the propwash, the static
pressure in the hose will not be affected.

My carb uses the steel needle but the problem is the same with the delrin
needle.

Good luck,
Bob Condon
