Top Headlines from AVweb's NewsWire FILL 'ER UP, WITH UNLEADED 82UL...
If your aircraft is certified to use auto fuel by an EAA Aviation Foundation Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), it can also use the unleaded 82UL aviation fuel approved earlier this month by the FAA, the EAA said this week. The alternative fuel was developed over the last decade with backing from industry groups. "The new unleaded fuel is part of the effort to remove leaded fuels from aircraft use, mostly because of environmental reasons," said Earl Lawrence, EAA vice president of government relations. ...IF YOU CAN FIND IT The hitch: Nobody is actually marketing 82UL to GA pilots yet, so it may be hard to find. But even if you can't get the gas, you can go ahead and replace your fueling placard. EAA has issued a Service Bulletin noting that the FAA has approved the use of 82UL in STC'd aircraft, and reminding owners they have until August 1 to replace the current refueling placard with one authorizing the use of 82UL. New placards can be bought from EAA for $2.50 and you can order by calling (920) 426- 4843 or by sending email to <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
