David; Service bulletin NO. 15 dated 4/14/67 concerning RH exhaust stack
failures: "It is recommended that the spreader bar and the tension spring
or
any other rigid means of support for the lower ends of the exhaust stack
be
removed and replaced with the flexible clamp assemblies in order to extend

the service life of the exhaust stack."
The service bulletin lists a "New" RH exhaust stack PN A40713-5 as well as
a
F40400-89 Flexible Clamp Assembly with attaching Hardware.
The 40400-89 PN is listed, as an Alon M-10 strap ($6.84 each). So I
ordered
two of them and installed them in-between the two Adel clamps that had
been
used to fasten the lower exhaust pipes directly to the engine mounts.
Before I did this, I removed the bolts in the clamps and flew the aircraft

without any exhaust pipe hangers. The vibration was still noticeable in
the
engine, but it was no longer being transmitted to the airframe.
