Been there, inspected that. All the instruments are ported to the static 
system.
There was some plumbing that was less than secure, and some re-seating of
hoses plus a few cable ties to keep them from squirting off the barbs
should
have addressed most of that. Now I'm back to where I was about six months
ago, with about a 20 foot up/down wiggle in the altimeter with the canopy
open. Nothing else is wiggling near so much.

In talking to a couple of instrument shops they said that, indeed, a
rotted-out
altimeter will cause a static system leak. Since the altimeter looks 
disreputable
as all hell and I want to replace it anyway I'll go ahead and do it and
see 
if it
steadies down.
