And as the chains swing, the grind, grind, grind at your tie-down rings,
so 
you
have to replace them every so often. I always wonder, too, if the plane
moves
and bounces right, the open hook won't possibly come un-hooked.

Of course, there's nothing to say that you can't leave the chains aside
and 
supply
your own stout Nylon ropes anchored to the rings in the ground directly,
or 
via a
hardware-store split link.
