I have just finished cleaning the entire interior of N99997. It also represented many years of dirt and grudge. I tried several cleaners and nothing would work well. I finally bought a gallon of Aquaprep aviation metal cleaner from aircraft spruce and used this and scotch bright to remove it all. The cleaned interior revealed many cracks, missing rivets and the fact that the left rear spar was replaced some time in the past and was installed with bolts and nuts in place of rivets. The Aquaprep works really well and is a safe and low VOC cleaner. I first used a piece of aluminum as a scraper to remove the big bulk of the material. The Aquaprep and a piece of maroon scotch bright will even remove the zinc Chromate primer. The interior of my coupe is now bright aluminum. I agree with Jim in his comments on the lower skin. Can't clean it without removing the rivets. Period. I found the same conditions that he did. I bought the Cleaner from Aircraft Spruce. Rich Blair N99997 4J6 St. Marys, Ga.
