Kenton, the answer to your question is a clear "Yes". A safety pilot can log flight time as Second in Command as long as (s)he is a "required crew member". In case the pilot flying is under the hood when the flight is conducted under VFR, a safety pilot is considered a "required crew member", and hence (s)he can log the associated time. Please be also aware that the safety pilot must possess at least a Private Pilot Certificate with the applicable ratings for the airplane used and must have at least a current third class medical.
Hope this helps, Stefan Fanselow, CFI Mooney M10, N9547V Tokyo, Japan -----Original Message----- From: Kenton Quint <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, May 31, 2000 7:23 AM Subject: [COUPERS] safety pilot >Does anyone know if a "safety pilot" can log hours while the pilot is >under the hood? >Kenton Quint > >_________________________________________________________________________ __ _____ >To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >___________________________________________________________ >T O P I C A The Email You Want. http://www.topica.com/t/16 >Newsletters, Tips and Discussions on Your Favorite Topics > > __________________________________________________________________________ ______ To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___________________________________________________________ T O P I C A The Email You Want. http://www.topica.com/t/16 Newsletters, Tips and Discussions on Your Favorite Topics
