As John Cooper has pointed out, what you are suggesting is to use
unapproved
parts in an aircraft.  Besides the ramp check which is not a likely
scenario, a more likely one is that after any incident which involves your
insurance company, you could be denied part of a claim based on damage
alleged to be caused by an unapproved battery.  I happen to use an
unapproved battery in my Forney, a gel-cell that sells for garden tractor
use and has no liquid.  My point therefore is not that no one ever does
it,
but rather that it doesn't seem like a good idea to recommend it without
caveats.  When I have my annual done, I put the dead, albeit legal,
battery
in so my IA can sign off the airplane as being airworthy I.E. equipped
with
proper parts.
