Coupers; (24) We had a great day today looking at the world famous Corn Palace and getting some much needed rest. Joel spent the afternoon in the
local pool and made at least 30 trips down the water slide there. He has the after effects of the South Dakota sun (there was not a cloud in the sky all day). Steve, my old high school buddy, had to work late because the sewer backed up so we did not get back from looking at the Coupe and having dinner until 1030. Joel says he really enjoyed the Corn Palace (he spent and hour and a half looking at the "tourist trinkets" they have for sale there) but I think the water slide/pool was the best part of his day. (25) I had hoped to get going from Mitchell to Springfield, MO early, but we did not take off until 8 AM. We had to stop in Sioux City, IA due to huge thunderstorms blocking our path. After waiting an hour and a half, we were able to go behind the storms via Lincoln, NE and then proceed to Springfield, stopping for fuel in Lawton, KS Ken Doyle was waiting for us as we landed at the private strip where he keeps his Alon. It took us until almost 3:30 PM to get to Springfield due to the weather delays and the 25 mph average headwind. Today we are off to Brandon, MO and the Silver Dollar theme park! Joel was so excited, he got up at 0430 this AM! I'm not sure whether it was due to knowing we were going to the theme park, or the ability to play super Nintendo on the huge screen TV Ken and Lois have.
