Only in some of the larger, more powerful planes can you can seat a 170 lb person in each seat, fill completely with fuel, and be within legal gross weight. 1034 lbs is the heaviest Alon I've heard of. Mine, at 975 lb has wing tip strobes, navcommm, transponder, intercom, auxiliary vacuum, and a large baggage compartment; 20% of the plane is unpainted.
I weigh 165, like you, and fly with a lightweight female instructor and full fuel. I take out the tool kit, etc., when flying someone else. The Alon you are looking at may be loaded down with really old radios. It is probably worth evaluating what equipment could be removed or traded for new & the plane will still be a good buy vs: a worn-out 152. (Incidentally, a 152 has almost the identical weight specs.)
