Coupers; We visited the Antietam Battlefield National Historical Site, at Sharpsburg, MD. today, after dropping Gene and Ralph Gagliari at the Metro
station. What a sobering experience. It was only a one day battle, and over 22,000 casualties were experienced. This battle obviously changed the course of the war. Then we went back to DC and spent the afternoon in the Aerospace museum. I was really amazed by the numbers of people in town. The city was getting ready for the 4th of July celebration, and the town was loaded with tourists. We could easily have spent another day there, but we will save that for another time. Joel liked both places, but says that the Aerospace Museum was the best even though he was able to earn another Jr. Ranger badge. I was especially impressed by Clara Barton's work at Antietam. We stopped at the airport before we headed to my son's house, and there were only 3 Coupes left, counting ours. We got to my son's, Aaron, house about 8:45 PM last night.
