Dennis,
I just went back to Avemco. They charged me $852/yr for the Coupe
including
$15k hull air/ground and $1337/yr for my Cardinal RG including $50k hull
air/ground. Individually these figures would be a little higher. I have
about 700 hrs total time as PSEL. I was paying about $100/yr less. The
reason I went back to Avemco was that a neighbor of mine had a loss and
when
the insurance carrier (Republic I think) found out his BFR was 10 days
overdue, they refused to pay a $30k loss. Avemco will pay if you had
everything (BFR, Medical, Annual) in force at the time the policy was
issued. They also give a discount for EAA membership which saves more
than
the membership fee so I guess at the very least you get a free magazine
with
pretty pictures. (Some of my neighbors hate the EAA because they have
become too big and impersonal - [Since this will no doubt cause a rash of
humble opinions, please comment on this statement with subject title like
"EAA" etc.] ). I have had two losses with Avemco totaling $40k and they
even took me back. Also, FWIW I like dealing directly with the insurance
company and not some agent who brings no added value to the process.
