Your hypothetical situation calls for a lot of individual, personal values
to be examined before giving any advice. Mine is this: I'm not
instrument
rated and don't want nor need a lot of gizmos on the panel. I highly
value
originality in antique/classic airplanes. Ercoupes should be as light and
as simple as possible, just like they were designed to be. *IF* both
planes
are corrosion free in the wing spar caps and center section front spar and
*IF* both planes have good compression and leak down testing numbers and
*IF* both planes have normal oil consumption rates I would personally go
for
the second Ercoupe.

Subject: [COUPERS] Coupe advice

>Coupers,
>What are your thoughts on the following hypothetical situations:
>There are two model 415-C coupes. One has been flying regularly, up to
>date on AD's and current on maintenance but has about 2400 hrs logged,
>which seems about normal. Recent overhaul and current annual. Unusual
>stress crack in belly repaired and signed off by FAA 20 years ago and
>has beautiful interior/exterior with professionally updated panel, lots
>of avionics, metal wings and paint.
>The other one hasn't been regularly flown for a long time but is current
>on AD's and maintenance and has less than 1000 hours, which seems really
>low. Original panel, new fabric wings, polished exterior, current
>annual. Wonderful interior/exterior with lots of spare parts. Very
>original.
>Benefits vs. downsides of each?
