Dear Coupers, A friend suggested that I send this to the whole list, although I worry about sending my long narratives. Well you can always delete if you're not interested. This is in 2 parts.
Spook -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Alrighty then, If you could see me you would notice that I have been dancing around my work area and uttering expressions of glee. I have a friend who says I'm extreme in my reactions. To her I must appear to be that way. But I can't help wondering if her claim says more about her reactions than mine. (?) What she says does have some validity in that when I like something I'M REALLY ENTHUSIASTIC!!!! I don't think that's a bad thing. Do you? Must be those ABNORMALLY EXCITIBLE NEURONS we migraine sufferers have. Anyhow, I get to fly tomorrow!! I am so happy about that!! So let me tell you about it. Are you familiar with the 99's, the international women pilot's organization? There is a very small chapter in Humboldt County. I think there are 9 or 10 members and I wouldn't be surprised if that number is the extent or near the extent of ALL the female pilots in the county. I went to their meeting a few weeks back. I was the only student there. I was a bit intimidated at first, but once I started talking to them, I felt at ease. Nice group of ladies. Some of them even own planes. That's quite an accomplishment, considering Humboldt County wages. One lady who owns a plane works here at HSU. She works in the Housing and Dining Dept. Unless they pay way higher than any other dept, I don't know how she does it. Maybe she lives in a cardboard box behind the FBO or maybe she inherited some $. When I get to know her I might ask, but now it seems rude. At the meeting I got to sit with one my my heros. She was a pilot in the WASP in WWII. She is a living legend as far as I'm concerned. I could listen to her stories indefinitely, especially when she talks about flying the P-51. When I told her about my flight in (Eureka) John's coupe she said she has had quite a few hours in Ercoupes. When she said this, the most beautiful smile and far away look in her eyes, appeared on her face. About a week after the 99's meeting, I got an email from a lady who had not been able to attend the meeting. She introduced herself, said that she was looking forward to meeting me, and that she was always trying to find passengers. So I emailed back and said thank you -where and when. She called me today at work. Turns out she's an instrument student and likes to take passengers with her on lessons as well as when she's flying VFR. Will probably be fog and low ceiling tomorrow so should be perfect for her lesson. I am looking forward to it so much! I'm sure I will learn a lot by observing. I am so excited! It's been over a month since I have been up. :-( __________________________________________________________________________ ______ To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___________________________________________________________ T O P I C A The Email You Want. http://www.topica.com/t/16 Newsletters, Tips and Discussions on Your Favorite Topics
