----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- A generator will sometimes lose the small amount of residual magnetism it needs to start up. You produce a magnetic field by temporarily connecting a DC source to the armature - this will remain strong enough for many months or years to enable start-up.
Disconnect the ARMATURE wire from the regulator. Turn on the master switch and TOUCH the disconnected lead to the BATT terminal on the regulator, which should now have 12 volts on it. There will most likely be a spark. Turn off the master and reconnect the armature lead. If the generator does not produce a charge, the problem most likely resides in the wiring or regulator, if the generator was tested by the rebuilder.
