----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Good Morning Folks;
There is two ways to look at this issue. If you was in a high wing plane I can see the harness because the wings can give you the protection of a flip. On the other hand in the coop it is just plactic and no support for you head. If it would flip then you have no chance to fold, your head is in a bad location. If you can remember Charlie Hilliard, if he had not of been strapped he could of folded. With out the harness, you will have the protection of the impact with the nose cowl, engine and engine mounts, firewall, and your seat. The reason the harness was first used was for upside-down flight, later it was used for the neck sudden stoppage swing forward. This is the two issues and personal, I have many hours in the Ercoupe and I would choose not to have the harness, because of the roll over airplane, and FIRE. If you are hurt bad it is a lot easier for you are some help to remove you from a airplane and time is the most important because of FIRE. Hope you Folks thinking about this issue will give weight to these facts. ===== Jim Howell Uptight39 Mohawker __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
